About The Event
Brisbane based hardcore-groove metal band Massic release their long-anticipated sophomore
album ‘Cognisant’ on May 13 2022. To celebrate this release, they are hosting an album launch
show at Woolly Mammoth Mane Stage in Fortitude Valley.
The result of more than two years of effort that saw the band navigate the pressures of the
global pandemic and internal health issues, Cognisant builds significantly on their
enthusiastically received 2018 debut ‘Redshift’.
‘Cognisant’ sees a massive upping-of-the-ante on the powerful riffs, dynamic rhythm section
and intense vocal delivery that are developed characteristics of a band that has garnered a
reputation as one of the most dynamic and energetic live acts in the Australian heavy music
scene.
Supporting them on the night is an all-local affair showcasing the diverse range of heavy music
that Brisbane has to offer.
Dead for Ages is the coalescence of four Brisbane stalwarts who converged based on their
mutual love of all things punk and metal. Featuring members of Brisbane underground legends,
the Quickening, Bad Day Down and We Set Sail, Dead for Ages’ mission is to combine their
love of melody, harmony, speed and technique. This is on full display on their 2019 debut
record ‘In Defence of an Ordinary Life’, which quickly became a crowd favourite on 4ZZZ. Listen
now on all streaming services.
Tetrament began in 2017 when Matty (vocals) and Sammy (lead guitar) decided the world
wasn’t heavy enough. Joined soon after by Coxy (bass), Shane (rhythm guitar) and Mick
(drums), Brisbane has been put on notice.
With over ten years active in the scene, Adriatic have mastered a unique blend of energetic
hardcore, prog metal, and rich Balkan rhythms and textures. Lyrically, the band promotes
strong positive, personal, environmental, spiritual and political messages aiming to increase the
scene’s involvement in raising awareness of the burning issues of modern society. They are co-
founders of the SCHEMA collective, an alliance of musicians and artists from Brisbane that have
united to support each other. Adriatic has shared the stage with legendary acts such as 36
Crazyfists and Superheist. The music is driven by energy and movement, and this will always be
the goal – to #giveallyougot!
